Tokyo, 31 July 2017: WonderPlanet Inc. (headquartered in Nagoya, Founder and CEO Tomoki Tsunekawa), which plans, develops, operates and markets full native applications and games for smart devices, has announced an investment of JPY 1 billion by Eight Roads Ventures Japan. Masatoshi Fukasawa from Eight Roads will join the WonderPlanet board.
WonderPlanet was established in Japan in September 2012, to target the global market in its mission to create “Smiley Time”. The game is Top 10 ranked in Apple app store sales in Japan, and is No.1 in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Its multi-lingual edition has grown particularly strongly in North America, Korea and the company is currently preparing to distribute Crash Fever in China.
With this new funding, WonderPlanet aims to accelerate its business expansion into global markets, by strengthening operations and expanding distribution areas for Crash Fever. It also plans to enhance its development system for new titles, which include a number of large-scale copyright games currently under construction.
David Milstein, Eight Roads Ventures Head of Japan said: “We are delighted to be able to support WonderPlanet as it continues to develop and launch high-quality, fun-to-use game content for Japan and overseas.
