WonderPlanet Inc. (headquartered in Nagoya, Founder and CEO Tomoki Tsunekawa), which plans, develops, operates, and markets full native applications and games for smart devices, has announced that it has decided to raise up to 1 billion yen in funding by issuing new shares through a third-party allotment, which will be underwritten by Cool Japan Fund (headquartered in Minato-ku (Tokyo), President and CEO Naoki Kitagawa). With this, Kazushi Sano from Cool Japan Fund is to be appointed as an outside director.
Since our founding in September 2012, WonderPlanet’s mission has been “Creating ‘Smiley Time’ in Our Friends’ Daily Life.” In order to realize this, we develop and operate products targeting the global market.
Crash Fever, which was released in 2015, has surpassed a total of 10 million downloads worldwide. Both the Japanese version and the Traditional Chinese version have entered their fourth year of operation. Jumputi Heroes, a title commemorating the 50th anniversary of the publication of Weekly Shonen Jump, saw its Japanese version released in 2018. The Traditional Chinese version was released in June 2019. In addition, the English and Traditional Chinese versions of VALKYRIE ANATOMIA-THE ORIGIN-, a collaboration with SQUARE ENIX, were released in April 2019. These have helped promote the global expansion of our titles and those of other companies.
Through this funding, WonderPlanet will accelerate the further global expansion of titles currently in operation, as well as develop new titles based on this global expansion. Doing so, we will strive to develop new demand for Japanese content overseas.
